BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -
The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's swimming and diving teams combined for 11 event wins as hosts of the IWU Halloween Invite Saturday, Oct. 29, at Fort Natatorium. The women finished second in a six-time field, while the men placed runner-up among five teams with 98 and 92 points, respectively.


Augustana swept the team standings, just edging the host Titans. The Viking women collected 105 points, with IWU tallying 98 and third-placed Rose-Hulman recording 56. Augie's men topped the standings with 107 points. Illinois Wesleyan's 92 points were good for second, with Anderson taking third with 57.

The Titans garnered three wins via relay, while junior Natalie Wajda (Park Ridge, Ill.-Maine South), freshman Kayleigh Kuschewski (Batavia, Ill.-Batavia), and senior Lauren Feddersen (Champaign, Ill.-Centennial) each added victories on the women's side. 

Wajda's win came in the 200 yard freestyle, where she clocked in with a time of 2:00.27. Kuschewski won the 200 yard backstroke as she touched in at 2:14.08, while Feddersen earned a win in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:32.80). 

Kuschewski, sophomore Jackie Rae Kelch (Peoria, Ill.-Notre Dame), and Wajda combined to lead IWU in the 3x100 backstroke relay. Feddersen anchored the 3x100 breaststroke relay alongside sophomore Hadley Fudge (Stanford, Ill.-University High) and sophomore Jade Kaminska (Jablonna, Mazovia, Poland-Maria Konopnicka) to a win with a time ouf 3:32.71. Kaminska and Fudge led the Titans to a win in the 3x100 medley relay alongside Bella Calcagno (Lemont, Ill.-Lemont Township) as the trio tapped in with a time of 3:16.54.

On the men's side, sophomore Alex Kula (Pekin, Ill.-Pekin Community) recorded two wins on the day. The Pekin, Ill. native won the 200 freestyle with a mark of 1:50.04, while he also added a win in the 200 butterfly (2:03.71). Ethan Lowder (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community), Jay Jenkins (Aurora, Ill.-West Aurora), and Lane Wagner (Danville, Ill.-Danville) bested the field in the 3x100 medley relay. The trio edged out Augie by eight-hundredths of a second for first, clocking in at 2:52.19.

Wagner posted an individual win in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:02.18. Junior Henry Moore (Champaign, Ill.-Centennial) closed out the day with a victory in the final individual event of the afternoon, claiming first in the 500 freestyle. 

The Titans return to action against a familiar foe in Augustana College Saturday, Nov. 12, as IWU hosts the Vikings for a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin dual. Action is slated to get underway at 1 p.m. inside Fort Natatorium.
