Women’s Soccer Bested by Bridgewater

Titans to play Washington & Lee Tomorrow, Sunday Sept. 5


LEXINGTON, Va. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team lost 1-0 to Bridgewater College Saturday, Sept. 4 at the Washington & Lee Invitational. The Titans are 1-1 after two games of non-conference play, while the Eagles moved to 1-0.

Freshman Kayla Borg (McHenry, Ill.-Cary Grove) registered her first full game as a Titan. Borg made a game-high six saves during 90 minutes of play. The Titans were outshot 15 to 12, (7-4 SOG), while both squads had seven shots in the first half, the Titans were kept scoreless as they headed into the second half. 

The lone goal of the match came early, as BC scored 1:16 into the match en route to the 1-nil result. 

Coming out of the half trailing 1-0, IWU packed on five more chances, but could not find the equalizer in a slim 1-0 setback.

The Titans look to bounce back tomorrow Sunday, Sept. 5 against Washington and Lee University at 12 p.m. ET.
