BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team prepares to travel north to Chicago to face North Park University for a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin matchup Wednesday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m. inside North Park Gymnasium. The Green and White's record sits at 7-9 (1-1 CCIW), while North Park has an overall record of 11-3 (0-2 CCIW).
The Titans have accumulated a sizable series advantage over the Vikings throughout the years. IWU holds a 35-1 series lead that dates back to 1994, and currently features an eight-match win streak. The two teams most recently faced off last spring, with the Green and White dispatching NPU in straight sets.
Illinois Wesleyan saw its first loss in CCIW play Wednesday, Sept. 22 as IWU fell to Wheaton College in straight sets. The Titans participated in the Holiday Inn Express Classic at the Shirk Center over the weekend, Sept. 24-25. The tournament field was loaded with talent including No. 5 Calvin University and No. 7 Hope College. The Green and While competed in three matches over the weekend and finished with a 1-2 record, winning a five-set thriller over a Mount St. Joseph team that received votes in last week's top-25 poll.
IWU defeated MSJ by scores of 28-30, 21-25, 25-18, 25-19, and 18-16 Friday, Sept. 24. Sophomore
Faith Washko (Springfield, Ill. - Sacred Heart-Griffin) led Wesleyan's defensive attack with a career-high 41 digs to go along with five assists. Washko's monster defensive effort ranks second in program history for digs in a match, as her 41 were the most by a Titan since Mary Rankin notched a school record 44 versus Augustana Sept. 22, 2015.
For the season, senior Courtney McAuliffe (Lemont, Ill. - Lemont) leads Illinois Wesleyan with 155 kills and 59 blocks. McAuliffe has a cumulative hitting percentage north of .300 with a .302 clip.
Junior Evy Makris (Orland Park, Ill. - Sandburg) is second on the team with her 98 kills. Senior
Jessica McCall (Wayne, Ill. - Wheaton St. Francis) and junior
Grace Sanders (Bloomington, Ill - Bloomington) are tied for the third with 96 kills apiece. Sophomore
Maddie Dryfhout (Orland Park, Ill. - Chicago Christain) rounds out the top five with 86 kills.
Senior Amber Juarez (Bloomington, Ill. - Normal U High) has produced the most digs on the team with 177. Sanders and McCall have accumulated 169 and 122 digs, respectively. Senior
Madi Corey (Frankfort, Ill. - Lincoln-Way East) has 105 digs while Washko has notched 94 digs.
The setting duo that features Corey and freshman Ava Porada (Frankfort, Ill. - Lincoln-Way East) have accounted for 571 total assists for the year. Corey has 302 and Porada has 269 assists. Porada also leads the Green and White with her 22 service aces.
