BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team is finally back at home Wednesday, Sept. 29 after seven-straight games on the road. The Titans will see College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin opponent Elmhurst University at Neis Field for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

Freshman Kayla Borg (McHenry, Ill.-Cary Grove) was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Defensive Player of the Week, announced Tuesday, Sept. 28. Borg recorded her first-career shutout in the Titans 5-0 win over North Park University Saturday, Sept. 25. The McHenry, Ill. native also picked up a career-high eight saves during a 2-2 tie against United Soccer Coaches No.9 and D3Soccer No. 2 University of Chicago where Borg and the Titans ended the Maroons eight-game winning streak.

The Titans are led by senior Caelyn Steffens (Normal, Ill.-Normal Community) and junior Lauren Shanks (Bloomington, Ill.-Central Catholic). Both Steffens and Shanks lead the Titans with a team-high 10 points. Steffens leads IWU in goals with four and two assists. Shanks leads the team in assists with four and recorded three goals this season.

The Titans sit at 2-5-1 (1-0 CCIW) due to last weekend's 5-0 win over North Park and 2-2 tie with No. 9 Chicago. The Blue Jays travel to Bloomington with an overall record of 2-4 (0-1 CCIW). Elmhurst dropped its season opener to North Central College, 4-0.

The Titans have an advantage in the all-time series against the Blue Jays of 20-5-1. IWU is on a nine-game winning streak against EU that dates back to the 2011 season. The two teams battled in the 2011 CCIW semifinals as the Titans won 2-1 in double overtime and have been victorious ever since.

The latest matchup was in the 2019 season where the Titans won at home 3-0 over the Bluejays. This season the Titans record at home is 1-0, credited to the 4-3 (2OT) season-opening triumph against Simpson College, Wednesday, Sept. 1.
