CHICAGO - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team dropped its College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin opener at North Park University 4-1 Saturday, Sept. 25. The Titans are now 0-5 and 0-1 in the CCIW as North Park sits at 6-3 and 1-0 in the CCIW.

Senior goalkeeper Brett Sprengel (Hoffman Estates, Ill.-Barrington) made four saves during the first first 45, before fellow senior goalkeeper Austin Woodside (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Communtiy) stepped in for the Green and White. Woodisde played the back end of the match where he recorded one save during his time between the posts.

Twenty minutes into the game Sprengel came up big for IWU with two saves off the Vikings back-to-back corner kicks. It wasn't until the 26-minute mark where NPU got its first goal of the night to take the 1-0 lead. The pressure was in the Titans' defending half and with a free kick opportunity the Vikings added on an insurance goal with under 10 minutes to go in the first frame.

Sophomore Davis Quarles (Naperville, Ill.-Metea Valley) fired a shot to force the Viking goalkeeper to make a save, resulting in a Titan corner kick. Senior Dorian Lesiuk (Palatine, Ill.-Fremd), with five minutes to go in the first half placed the ball into the box to find senior defender Logan Servin (Milton, Wis.-Milton) at the end of it, closing the deficit back down to one. The Titans headed into the second half down 2-1.

Around 15 minutes into the second period, the Vikings capitalized on a free kick opportunity to take a 3-1 lead. The Titans could not find a bounce back goal as NPU secured its fourth and final goal of the night with 13 minutes remaining on the clock to close out the scoring, 4-1.

The Titans are back at home Tuesday, Sept. 28 for a night game against Monmouth College. Kick off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
