Women’s Soccer Travels to Windy City for Two-Game Weekend

Titans open CCIW play Saturday, before playing a non-conference match on Sunday

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team travels to the windy city of Chicago for two games Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 25-26. The Titans will play their first College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin matchup against North Park University on Saturday, before heading to the campus of No. 9/2 University of Chicago on Sunday. The games are scheduled to kick off at 5 p.m. and 2 p.m., respectively. 

The United Soccer Coaches Association Top-25 poll was released Tuesday, Sept. 21. Chicago was ranked in the top-10 at No. 9, they moved up one spot from the previous poll which sat them at No. 10. According to the D3Soccer.com Top-25 poll, Chicago is ranked No. 2 with three first-place votes and a total of 831 points announced Tuesday, Sept. 21. The D3soccer.com Top-25 poll is voted on by a panel of coaches, sports information directors, and D3soccer.com staff.

Both the Titans and North Park head into conference play on Saturday. The Vikings lost 3-1 to Kalamazoo College Wednesday, Sept. 22 to hold an overall record of 3-4-1. 

The last time the Green and White played NPU was during an exhibition game last spring, where the Titans defeated the Vikings, 3-0. The last countable match against the Vikings was during the 2019 season as IWU beat North Park, 7-nil. 

Overall, the Titans and Vikings have 27-match history, with Illinois Wesleyan leading the series, 24-3. Currently, IWU is on a 21-game winning streak that started with a 2-1 win during the 1999 season. 

The Titans will see No. 9/2 Chicago after a quick turnaround against North Park. Chicago welcomes IWU with an overall record of 7-0. The Titans all-time record against the Maroons is 8-12-1.
