Titans look ahead for CCIW game against North Park

GALESBURG, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team lost 2-0 at Knox College Tuesday, Sept. 21. The Titans are 0-4 on the year as they head into a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin matchup this weekend Saturday, Sept. 25 against North Park University. 

The Green and White were led by junior Dane Hoare (Chicago, Ill.-Von Steuben) who took three shots out of the team's seven. Hoare recorded IWU's only two shots on goal during the 90 minutes of play. The Titans were outshot 9-7 (4-2 SOG) overall. Senior goalkeeper Brett Sprengel (Hoffman Estates, Ill.-Barrington) made two saves. 

The Titans were in foul trouble, as nine minutes into the game the Prairie Fire scored off a free kick opportunity, to take the 1-0 advantage. Chances were exchanged back and forth in the opening half with the Titans and Prairie Fire credited with five shots each. It was not until the 30 minute mark where the Green and White found itself down by two to end the half. 

IWU kept Knox scoreless in the second half, but could not break through offensively in the 2-0 defeat.

The Titans take a trip to Chicago this weekend, Sept. 25, to face off against CCIW opponent North Park for a 7:30 p.m. kick off.
