BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Fresh off a season-opening win, the Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team will head to the campus of Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Va. to battle in the Captains Classic. The team will hit the court for four total matches, playing two Friday, Sept. 3 and two more Saturday, Sept. 4.

IWU, which defeated Illinois College in straight sets, Sept. 1, will take on Lynchburg Friday afternoon, Sept. 3 at 3 p.m. ET. The Titans will then tangle with No. 24 Susquehanna at 5 p.m. ET. Illinois Wesleyan will close out the tournament with games against Clarkson and Christopher Newport Saturday, Sept. 4, at 10 a.m. ET and 2 p.m. ET, respectively.

The Green and White used a well-balanced attack to capture the victory against IC and improve its overall record to 1-0. Senior Courtney McAuliffe (Lemont, Ill. - Lemont), junior Grace Sanders (Bloomington, Ill. - Bloomington), and senior Jessica McCall (Wayne, Ill. - Wheaton St. Francis) led the offensive attack, as each notched double-digit kills. Seniors Makenna Jacoby (Shorewood, Ill. - Minooka Community), Madi Corey (Frankfort, Ill. - Lincoln-Way East), and Amber Juarez (Bloomington, Ill. - Normal U High) helped IWU build up a 54-42 advantage in digs on the defensive side.
