Garcia Nabs WGCA All-Region Selection

Second all-region honor of her career

Senior Jackie Garcia (San Diego, Calif.-Cathedral Catholic) was named to the Women's Golf Coaches Association All-Great Lakes Region team Wednesday, May 19. 


Garcia, who earned the honor for the second consecutive season, played in six tournaments for Illinois Wesleyan. She posted four top-15 finishes, including two top-five, and averaged 81.75 strokes over 13 rounds. She carded a final round of 77, her best round of the season, at the Dan Salisbury Memorial Collegiate, Oct. 5, where she tied for fourth. Garcia claimed a share of second at the ONU Fall Intercollegiate, Oct. 10.

Garcia graduates with the third-lowest career scoring average (81.28) in program history. She is tied for 13th on IWU's all-time career wins list, nine in rounds of par-or-better, and eighth in career birdies.

The Women's Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition.
