Men’s Lacrosse Soars Past Bluejays Behind Strong Second Half

Titans extended their win streak to seven games

ELMHURST, Ill.- The Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team continued its winning streak with a 25-16 victory over Elmhurst University Saturday, April 24. The Titans advanced to 5-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin and 10-1 on the year, winning its last seven games. The Blue Jays broke even at 2-2 in the CCIW and dropped to 9-4 on the season. 

Sophomore Connor Kiichle (Vancouver, Wash.-Skyview) led the Titans with six goals, a career-high for the Vancouver, Wash. native, in addition to four assists. Junior Rick Smith (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln Way East) put up 10 points for the Green and White with five goals and five assists. Sophomore Carson Kiichle (Vancouver, Wash.-Skyview) tied his career-high of five goals and registered one assist. 

At the X, senior Max Bousky (Peoria, Ill.-Peoria Notre Dame) went 24-for-29 in faceoff wins and picked up a game-high 15 ground balls. Bousky also aided the Titans in the attack with two goals. Between the posts senior Will Harris (Bloomingtin, Minn.-Holy Angels) recorded 16 saves facing 32 shots on goal from the Blue Jays. 

The Titans turned up the scoring in the third period, coming back from a 13-10 deficit, as a goal from Bousky kicked off a five-goal run to put the Titans up 15-13 with eight minutes remaining in the third. IWU never looked back, as the Titans outscored the Bluejays 9-3 in th period to take control.

To cap off the day the Green and White's combination of attack and defense kept Elmhurst to two goals in the fourth and tacked on seven goals to end the game 25-16. 

The Titans are back at home next week Friday, April 30 to celebrate their seniors inside Tucci Stadium. The game is scheduled for 4 p.m. start.
