Baseball Falls to No. 9 North Central

Pfotenhauer and Watson toss 1-2-3 innings in relief

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University fell 15-5 in seven innings at No. 9 North Central College Tuesday, March 30. The defeat dropped IWU's record to 9-7 (4-4 CCIW), while NCC improved to 10-3 (5-1 CCIW).

The Cardinals scored five runs in the first and never looked back. IWU pulled within three, 6-3, into the bottom of the fourth, but NCC plated eight runs to put the game out of reach.

Junior Evan Ranneklev (Naperville, Ill.-Neuqua Valley) tallied two of Illinois Wesleyan's six hits in a 2-for-4 day at the plate. Senior Dan Cerniglia (Park Ridge, Ill.-Maine South) drove in two while going 1-for-2, while Ranneklev and junior Jack Schneider (Naperville, Ill.-Benet Academy) recorded IWU's other RBIs.

On the mound, the Titans used seven arms. Jacob Duffy (Pontiac, Ill.-Pontiac) started the game and suffered the loss. Seniors Colin Pfotenhauer (Lemont, Ill.-Marist) and Nick Watson (Normal, Ill.-Normal West) each pitched 1-2-3 innings in relief.

IWU looks to bounce back this Friday, April 2, when it travels to North Park for the doubleheader. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
