Baseball to Host Millikin in Midweek Matchup

First pitch is set for 3 p.m.

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University baseball team continues College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play this Wednesday, March 25, against Millikin University. The Titans will play the Big Blue at Horenberger Field with game time set for 3 p.m.

Illinois Wesleyan has a 7-5 overall record and is in search of its third CCIW win of the year. Millikin sits at 10-1 on the season and 3-0 in league play. The Big Blue most recently bested North Park, 4-3, March 21.

The Titans are in search of their first win against MU since IWU ended the Big Blue's season with an 8-2 victory in the 2019 CCIW Tournament. Evan Ranneklev (Naperville, Ill.-Neuqua Valley) went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI, while Evan Hill (Gurnee, Ill.-Warren Township) picked up the win on the mound. Hill struck out four over five innings of work, allowing one run on four hits.

Ranneklev, sophomore Ethan Burgh (Arlington Heights, Ill.-Prospect), and freshman Jacob Cyrus (Glen Ellyn, Ill.-Glenbard South) have led the Green and White offensively. Ranneklev boasts the team's top batting average at .431, and is also the team-leader in hits (22) and extra-base knocks (8). Burgh is second in both batting average (.408) and hits (20), while Cyrus's 15 RBIs lead the team. 

In five starts, senior Quinn Gudaitis (Arlington Heights, Ill.-John Hersey) has compiled a 1.61 earned run average. He has struck out 41 over 28 innings, both of which are team-highs.
