BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University baseball team continues College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play this weekend, March 20-21, with three games against Elmhurst University. The Titans and Bluejays will play a doubleheader Saturday, March 20, at Horenberger Field, followed by a single game at Pfund Stadium in Wheaton. Saturday's double dip will get started at 12 p.m, while Sunday's weekend finale will begin at 5 p.m.

Illinois Wesleyan enters the weekend with a 5-4 overall record and is in search of its first CCIW win of the year. Elmhurst sits at 5-2 on the season amid a four-game win streak. The Bluejays most recently outlasted Carthage, 11-7, March 17.

The Titans swept a three-game series back in 2019, besting the Bluejays 6-4, 7-6, and 15-12. The finale took 11 innings to settle, as IWU overcame a four-run deficit to secure the sweep.

Junior Evan Ranneklev (Naperville, Ill.-Neuqua Valley), sophomore Ethan Burgh (Arlington Heights, Ill.-Prospect), and freshman Jacob Cyrus (Glen Ellyn, Ill.-Glenbard South) led the Green and White offensively. Ranneklev boasts the team's top batting average at .421, and is also the team-leader in hits (16) and extra-base knocks (6). Burgh is second in both batting average (.417) and hits (15), while Cyrus's 12 RBIs lead the team. With two home runs, Cyrus leads IWU and ranks second in the conference.

In four starts, senior Quinn Gudaitis (Arlington Heights, Ill.-John Hersey) has compiled a 1.89 earned run average. He has struck out 27 over 19 innings, both of which are team-highs. Fellow senior Cooper Kraft (Morton, Ill.-Morton) has also been strong to start the year, and owns a 1.80 ERA in three relief appearances.
