BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team opened the spring portion of its schedule with a sweep of Greenville University and Loras College Saturday, Feb. 13 at Evergreen Racquet Club. The Titans knocked off the Panthers and Duhawks 7-2 and 5-4, respectively.  
 
Illinois Wesleyan toppled Greenville behind a sweep of the doubles matches and wins at No. 1, 2, 3, and 5 singles. In a tight match with the Duhawks, the Titans used wins at No. 1, 2, and 3 singles as well as No. 1 and 3 doubles to take the match 5-4. 

In IWU's match against Greeville, junior Demetrios Triantafel (Indian Head Park, Ill.-LaGrange Lyons) earned the win at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-1, while sophomore Carter Burk (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal U High) won 6-0, 6-1. Freshman Ryan McCoy (Arlington Heights, Ill.-Rolling Meadows) delivered a 6-4 win and a 6-3 triumph against the Panthers at No. 3. The Green and White swept the doubles matches, led by Triantafel and Burk's 8-2 win at No. 1. Evan Turnbull (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) and McCoy teammed up to win the No. 2 doubles match, while Tim Hughes (Springfield,Ill.-Springfield) and Dylan Mikaili (Napperville, Ill.-Waubonsie Valley) nabbed a 8-7 win at No. 3 doubles. Turnbull also collected a win at No. 5 singles.
 
The Titans head to Elsah, Ill. to face off against Principia College and Webster University next Saturday, Feb. 20. IWU is scheduled to face WU at 12 p.m. and PC at 3 p.m.
