BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Coming off a top-10 win the Illinois Wesleyan University men's basketball team looks to keep things rolling when it welcomes North Park University to the Shirk Center Friday night, Feb. 2. Tipoff between the Vikings and third-ranked Titans is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Illinois Wesleyan rolled to 2-0 on the season after rolling over No. 9 North Central, 91-77, Feb. 4. North Park enters the matchup 1-6 on the year, having played one of the more difficult schedules in the conference to date. NPU's lone win came over Carthage, 78-68, Jan. 30, but the Vikings have lost three straight since. Most recently, NPU came up short at No. 7 Wheaton, 69-59, Feb. 9.
Fans can tune into the game via live stats or live stream, with Eric Stock and Joel Swanson calling the action. Links on how to follow along can be found on the men's basketball schedule page of IWUsports.com.

ONE AWAY FROM HISTORY: In his fourteenth-year, head coach Ron Rose tied IWU legend Jack Horenberger for second on IWU's all-time wins list. With a career record of 264-129, Rose sits even with Horenberger (264-212). Dennie Bridges owns the record, having compiled a 667-319 mark in his legendary career.

D3HOOPS TEAM OF THE WEEK PICK: Following a lights-out offensive performance against North Central, Feb. 6, Keondre Schumacher earned a spot on the D3Hoops Team of the Week. With his selection he became the first Titan to earn the honor since Matthew Leritz did in Week 14 of the 2019-20 season. He is just the sixth Titan to garner the national award all-time, joining Leritz, Korey Coon, Luke Kasten, Brent Niebrugge, and Brady Rose.
Schumacher wasn't the only Titan recognized on the Week Two squad, as Kendall Sosa of the IWU women's basketball team became the fifth IWU player on the women's side to reel in the accolade.

HOME COOKING: One of the greatest athletic venues in NCAA Division III, the Shirk Center has been home to more than 600 Titan basketball games between both the men and women. The men hold a 276-56 record on their home floor, good for a .831 win percentage.

AGAINST NORTH PARK ALL-TIME: Illinois Wesleyan holds an 87-33 advantage in the 120-game history between IWU and North Park, dating back to the 1962-63 campaign. The Titans have won the past six meetings.
Last season, IWU swept the season series. In the team's initial meeting, the Titans came out victorious, 70-56. Doug Wallen scored a team-high 16 points, with Keondre Schumacher and Luke Yoder added 15 points each in the winning effort. Charlie Bair chipped in a near-double-double with eight points and 11 rebounds.
The second meeting needed overtime to settle the score, with IWU outlasting NPU, 94-92. Matthew Leritz fueled the Titans with a 28-point, 11-rebound double-double, while Schumacher added 18 points off the bench.

KEY FOR THREEEEEE!: Keondre Schumacher was near-perfect offensively in Illinois Wesleyan's win over ninth-ranked North Central Saturday, Feb. 6. Schumacher was 8-for-10 from the field with 23 points, including a blistering 7-for-8 showing from beyond the arc. His seven made triples rank tied for eighth-most in IWU single-game history, and are the most since Zach Knobloch set the record with 10 against Alma, Nov. 17, 2017.
For the season, Schumacher ranks second in the CCIW in three-point field goal percentage (.667) behind teammate Cory Noe (.727).

LEAGUE LEADERS: The Titans sit atop the CCIW standings alongside Wheaton (5-0) as the two undefeated teams in the league, but that is not the only area IWU is leading the conference. In fact, Illinois Wesleyan tops the league in seven statistical categories.

MOVIN' ON UP - TITANS UP TO NO. 3: In the second D3Hoops Poll of the season, the Titans came in ranked No. 3. It is the highest rank for the Titans since IWU finished the 2013-14 season as the third-ranked team in the country. Illinois Wesleyan and Wheaton (No. 7) represented the CCIW in the rankings, while North Central received votes.

RANKINGS ON REPEAT: Illinois Wesleyan is one of 20 programs that have appeared in at least 100 D3Hoops.com Top-25 rankings. In fact, the Titans 166 appearances in the weekly poll are 10th-most all-time.
