Women’s Soccer Hosts Carthage in Regular Season Finale

Titans will face Carthage at 1 p.m. for American Heart Association Match

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team heads into its last regular season game at home against Carthage College Saturday, Oct. 30. The Titans, who are now tied for first in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, hold a 6-1 league record and are 8-7-1 overall. The Firebirds enter Bloomington, Ill. with a 3-4 conference record and sit at 5-11 overall.

The Titans return to action after facing Millikin University Wednesday night Oct. 27. IWU clinched the win, 3-1, as senior Izzy Mitra (Normal, Ill.-Normal Community) netted back-to-back goals in the second half. Fellow senior and team goal-leader for the Green and White, Caelyn Steffens (Normal, Ill.-Normal Community) scored the Titans first goal before Mitra sealed the deal. 

Carthage is on a two-game win streak following wins against North Park University Oct. 23 and Elmhurst University, Oct. 27. The Firebirds road record is 1-7, while the Titans have been more successful at Neis Field with a 5-1 home record. 

IWU and Carthage have an all-time series of 18-9-4 dating back to the 1994 season. The Titans have won six straight games against the Firebirds, dating back to the 2015 season, with four of the victories coming via shutout.
