CCIW Regular Season Title on the Line as Women’s Volleyball Hosts Carthage for Senior Night

Winner will be No. 1 seed in next week’s conference tournament

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Regular Season Championship will be determined Wednesday night, Oct. 27, inside the Shirk Center as the Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team hosts Carthage College in its regular season finale. First serve of the Senior Night match is slated for 7 p.m. 

The Green and White enter the match with an overall record of 16-12 (6-1 CCIW), while the Firebirds boast a record of 19-9 (6-1 CCIW).  The Titans, who can clinch the league's regular season title for the first since 2018 with a win, will recognize their seven seniors as part of Senior Night. IWU will honor seniors Jessica McCall (Wayne, Ill. - Wheaton St. Francis), Courtney McAuliffe (Lemont, Ill. - Lemont), Madi Corey (Frankfort, Ill. - Lincoln-Way East), Amber Juarez (Bloomington, Ill. - Normal U High), Riley Cross (Arlington Heights, Ill. - Buffalo Grove), Makenna Jacoby (Shorewood, Ill. - Minooka Community), and Alora Gomez (North Aurora, Ill. - West Aurora) prior to first serve.

Illinois Wesleyan, which was listed in the initial NCAA Division III Regional XIII Rankings, is coming off of a 2-1 weekend as host of the Holiday Inn Express Classic III, Oct. 22-23. IWU defeated CCIW rival Augustana College in straight sets Oct. 22, before sweeping Alma College in straight sets and falling to No. 21 UW-Stevens Point in straight sets Oct. 23. Meanwhile, Carthage will travel to Shirk amid an eight-match win streak that includes a sweep of Wheaton, Oct. 20. 

Carthage owns a 29-19 series advantage over IWU and has won the previous three meetings. The two teams last met April 14, 2021, with the Firebirds winning in four sets. The Green and White's last victory came Nov. 3, 2018.  

The Titans currently lead the CCIW in assists with 1,110, which is good for 11.44 assists per set. The team also leads the conference with 1,190 kills, which equates to 12.27 per set.

Individually, McAuliffe tops the conference with 1.06 blocks per set, totaling 103 blocks for the season. The Lemont, Ill. native ranks second with her .376 hitting percentage and is also eighth with 2.61 kills per set.

Sophomore Faith Washko (Springfield, Ill. - Sacred Heart-Griffin) checks in with 3.94 digs per set, which is good for sixth in the conference.
