Women’s Soccer Hosts Millikin in Breast Cancer Awareness Match

Titans to kickoff at 7 p.m.at Neis Field

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team kicks off its two-game homestand Wednesday, Oct. 27 with a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin match against Millikin University at Neis Field at 7 p.m. This game will serve as the squad's Breast Cancer Awareness match.

The Titans are currently ranked second in the CCIW with a 5-1 conference record, while Millikin is fifth with a 3-3 conference record. Millikin last played North Central College Saturday, Oct. 23, where the Big Blue beat the NCC, 2-0. The Titans last took the field in Waukesha, Wis., where senior Caelyn Steffens (Normal, Ill.-Normal Community) led the Titans to a 3-1 victory over Carroll University credited to her second career hat trick Saturday, Oct. 23. 

Steffens now leads the conference in points with 15 (six goals, three assists), game-winning goals (four), and is tied for first in goals (six) over six CCIW games played.

IWU and Millikin have an all time series of 25-1 with the Green and White on a 14-game winning streak dating back to Oct. 29, 2008 when the Titans beat the Big Blue 5-0. Out of IWU's 25 games won in the all-time series, 18 of the wins have been via shutout.

The two squads battled one another twice in the 2020 season April 7, 2021 and April 21, 2021. The Titans went 2-0 over the Big Blue with scores of 3-1 each time.
