Men’s Soccer Travels To Take on Carroll in CCIW Meeting

Titans eye third straight win

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team will travel to Carroll University for a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin game Saturday, Oct. 23. The Titans will play the Pioneers at 3:30 p.m., following the women's game in Waukesha, Wis. 

IWU is on a two-game win streak after defeating Elmhurst University 3-0 Wednesday night, Oct. 20. and Augustana College 5-2 Saturday, Oct. 16.  With the win over the Bluejays, the Titans moved to 3-2 in the conference and 4-7-1 overall. Carroll faced Carthage College Wednesday, Oct. 20 where they were overpowered 5-1 against the Cardinals to put them at a 1-3-1 record in the CCIW and 8-5-1 overall. 

The Titans saw three different goalscorers in their 3-0 blanking over the Bluejays. Junior Dane Hoare (Chicago, Ill.-Von Steuben) picked up his third career goal during Wednesday night's match, with all three of his goals coming during this season and serving asl game-winners. In addition, seniors Trevor Martin (San Diego, Calif..-St. Augustine) and Donovan Malone (Houston, Texas-St. Pius X) rounded out the scoring for the Green and White. 

Freshman goalkeeper Ethan Fineman (Highland Park, Ill.-Highland Park) recorded his first career shutout where he was credited with four saves. The freshman stood on his head for the Titans playing a vital role in IWU's 3-0 win. 

In the all-time series between the Pioneers and Titans, IWU holds an all-time record of 5-0-1 as they have never lost a game against CU dating back to the 2009 season. The inaugural match for IWU and Carroll in 2009 was called after a double-overtime scoreless draw. Since then, the Titans have been victors over the Pioneers.
