BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team will celebrate and honor its 10 seniors during a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin matchup with Augustana College Saturday, Oct.16. The Titans welcome the Vikings inside Neis Field for a 1 p.m. start.

IWU will recognize Maria Fields (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East), Shannon Hogeman (Silverthorne, Colo.-Summit), Rachel White (Naperville, Ill.-Waubonsie Valley), Madison Fischer (Orland PArk, Ill.-Carl Sandburg), Caelyn Steffens (Normal, Ill.-Normal Community), Izzy Mitra (Normal, Ill.-Normal Community), Heather Dietrich (Geneseo, Ill.-Geneseo), Erin Peck (Wheaton, Ill.-Wheaton St. Francis), Sofia Papoutsis (North Aurora, Ill.-West Aurora), and Angelina Kosmas (Palos Park, Ill.-A.A Stagg) before the game alongside their friends and family.

Despite the untraditional 2020 season, this group of established seniors have helped the Titans earn two CCIW Tournament titles and two NCAA Tournament appearances where they advanced to the second round in both the 2018 and 2019 seasons. In regular season play, this group aided the Titans to a third-place regular season finish in 2018 and a second-place regular season finish in 2019.

The Titans were on the field last against North Central College Wednesday, Oct. 13. IWU handed the Cardinals their first conference loss of the year as both teams now hold a 3-1 CCIW record. Junior Maggie Peters (Normal, Ill.-Normal Community) scored her first career goal as the center defender scored it from almost 33 yards out. In addition Peck grabbed her first goal of the season to win the game for the Green and White, 2-1. Augustana will enter Neis Field after a break in conference play where it faced Coe College Wednesday, Oct. 13, and won 1-0.

IWU will play Augustana for the 35th time in program history. The Titans hold the upper hand with an all-time series lead of 17-9-8 . The latest contest was during the 2019 CCIW Championships where the Titans won 1-0 in overtime to advance into the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year. Junior Lauren Shanks (Bloomington,Ill.-Central Catholic) punched IWU's ticket into the NCAA Tournament after she scored the game-winning goal against the Vikings in overtime. Shanks at the time was a freshman and earned her sixth-career goal in the Green and White uniform.
