COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team saw its win streak halted at four with a loss to eighth-ranked Ursinus College Saturday afternoon, March 7. The Titans fell behind early as Bears handed IWU a 20-8 setback. The loss puts the Titans at 4-2 on the year, while the Bears improved to 6-0 overall.
IWU's offensive production was paced by sophomore
Rick Smith (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln Way East) and freshmen
Connor Kiichle (Vancouver, Wash.-Skyview) and
Carson Kiichle (Vancouver, Wash.-Skyview) as each tallied two goals in the loss.
Connor Kiichle also recorded two assists in the game. Junior
Tanner Nelson (Hatfield, Pa.-North Penn) and senior
Ty Collins (West Chicago, Ill.-Wheaton Academy) also net goals.
Junior
Max Bousky (Peoria, Ill.-Peoria Notre Dame) won 14-of-27 face offs and picked up a team-leading six ground balls, while sophomore
Daniel Dickerson (Wheaton, Ill.-St. Francis Prep) and junior
Jesse Prettner (Minneapolis, Minn.-Edina) caused two turnovers apiece.
In goal, junior
Will Harris (Bloomington, Minn.-Holy Angels) got the start and made five saves, and senior
Benigno Houser (Hilliard, Ohio-St. Charles Prep) added eight stops in relief.
Illinois Wesleyan returns to action Wednesday, March 11, when IWU closes out its spring break trip at Washington College. Game time is slated for 4 p.m. ET in Chestertown, Md.
