BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- The Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team gave its best efforts in a non-conference match with Webster University Tuesday, March 3. The Titans bested the Gorloks in a tight 5-4 dual.

Junior Justin Piotrowski (Palatine, Ill.-Fremd HS) put up a fight in competition with WU's Justin Weaver at No. 3 singles. Piotrowski was handed a 6-2 set back in the first round before bouncing back 6-1 and 11-9 to take the match.

Junior Dylan Mikaili (Napperville, Ill.-Waubonsie Valley HS) tabbed a 6-1, 7-5 win at No. 4 singles against Webster's Nicolas Andrade, while his doubles partner Michael Behrensmeyer (Champaign, Ill.-St. Thomas More HS) also claimed a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 5 singles against Tanner Haugen. 

Sophomore Demetrios Triantafel (Indian Head Park, Ill.-LaGrange Lyons HS) and freshman Carter Burk (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal U High) posted an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles. 

Austin Nation was a familiar face to Piotrowski. The two last battled in March 2018 where Piotrowski defeated Nation 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. In this year's rendition, Piotrowski and Mikaili partnered to slide by WU's Nation and Weaver at No. 2 doubles with an 8-6 clip.

The men's tennis team will travel down to Orlando, Fla. for their next matches, beginning against Wabash College at 8 a.m. ET, March 10.
