Titans Make it Three In-A-Row with Shutout of UW-Oshkosh

Megan O'Neal and Maureen McGrath notched goals in the win

OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team dominated the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Sunday night, Sept. 22, en route to its third straight victory. IWU cruised to a 2-nil win behind goals from juniors Maureen McGrath (Inverness, Ill.-St. Viator HS) and Megan O'Neal (St. Charles, Ill.-St. Charles East HS), while sophomore Maria Fields (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East HS) posted the second shutout of her career.

Illinois Wesleyan's dominating effort was highlighted by an 18-3 advantage in shots, including a 9-3 edge in shots on goal. Additionally, IWU earned 10 corners and conceded just one.

McGrath found the back of the net 14 minutes into the match to give Illinois Wesleyan a lead it would not relinquish. Junior Cameron Hindel's (Batavia, Ill.-Batavia HS) corner service connected with McGrath, who headed past the UW-Oshkosh keeper to give IWU a 1-nil advantage.

O'Neal doubled Illinois Wesleyan's lead in the 62nd minute on a ball played through the UWO defense by sophomore Heather Dietrich (Geneseo, Ill.-Geneseo HS).

IWU makes the trek back to Wisconsin next weekend, Saturday, Sept. 28, for its final non-conference match of the season against UW-Stevens Point. Kickoff against the Pointers is scheduled for 1 p.m.
