Men's Soccer Powers Past Principia, 4-0

Hickey, Servin, Ballard, James scored goals in victory

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's soccer team scored two goals in both halves to give them a 4-0 victory over Principia College, Saturday, Sept. 21.

In the first half, senior Patrick Hickey (Des Plaines, Ill.-St. Viator HS) put a header in the net off fellow senior Luke Cangilla's (Broomfield, Colo.-Broomfield HS) pass in the 10th minute. IWU's second goal came off the foot of sophomore Logan Servin (Milton, Wis.-Milton HS) in the 43rd minute off a feed from senior Justin Yaeger (New Lenox, Ill.-Lincoln-Way West HS). 

Senior Doug Ballard (Solana Beach, Calif.-Canyon Crest Academy) opened up the scoring for the Titans in the second half, cashing in off sophomore Ryan Bull's (Park Ridge, Ill.-Main South HS) pass in the 49th minute. The final score came in the 69th minute, with junior Keagan James (Kokomo, Ind.-Kokomo HS) scoring a goal off an assist by Yeager.

Senior Alex Ruckstaetter (Glen Ellyn, Ill.-Glenbard West HS) earned his 23rd career win, giving him the record for most goalkeeper wins in an IWU uniform. The Titans had seven shots with five on goal and drew seven corners for the game.

The men's soccer team will be competing against Dubuque in their next match, taking place at Neis Field Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m.
