CLAREMONT, Calif. - The No. 18th-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team was blanked by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges Saturday night, Aug. 31, under the lights at Prirzlaff Field. The Athenas scored in the 18th and 76th minutes to outlast the Titans, 2-0.

Kelli McCarthy (San Diego, Calif.-Cathedral Catholic HS) made two saves for IWU, while sophomore
Maria Fields (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East HS) added a stop in her debut.
Illinois Wesleyan was outshot 11-8, with Claremont-Mudds-Scripps also holding an edge in shots on target, 5-2. Meanwhile, IWU manufactured six corners to CMS' four, and led the saves tally, 3-2.
Next up for the Titans is a clash with Calvin College Friday afternoon, Sept. 6, at Neis Field. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
