BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University volleyball team lifts the lid on the 2019 slate this weekend at the 41st rendition of the Ohio Northern University Invitational Friday-Saturday, Aug. 30-31, in Ada, Ohio.
Sophomore setter Madi Corey (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East HS), an All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Second Team honoree last year, will be key in orchestrating the attack under 24th-year head coach Kim Nelson-Brown. Corey recorded 513 assists, while adding 122 digs and a team-best 37 aces as a freshman in 2018. Additionally, senior Raina Emery (Chicago, Ill.-Chicago HS for Agricultural Sciences) and junior Jessica McCall (Wayne, Ill.-Wheaton St. Francis HS) will serve as captains for the squad in 2019.Â
The Titans will see tough competition to open the season, as IWU will take on host and No. 23-ranked ONU Friday, Aug. 30, at 2 p.m. ET, before squaring off against No. 6 Wittenberg and No. 2 Calvin Saturday, Aug. 31.
