Titans Use Big Second Quarter to Lead to 21-13 Men's Lacrosse Win

KENOSHA, Wis. -- The Illinois Wesleyan men's lacrosse team scored 10 goals in the second quarter to forge a 14-9 halftime lead and went on to a 21-13 win over Carthage College at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis., on Saturday, April 6.

The Titans improved to 10-1 overall and 2-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the Red Men are now 9-3 and 0-1 in the CCIW.

Freshman Rick Smith and senior Will Rossi each had five goals to pace the Titans, who had 71 shots to 35 for Carthage. IWU had 39 shots on goal to 26 for Carthage.

Illinois Wesleyan dominated the faceoffs, 35-3, and the ground ball statistic, 68-29. Senior J.C. Grabarek won 28 of 30 faceoffs for the Titans and Max Bousky won seven of eight.

IWU goalkeeper Benigno Houser made 13 saves in the 60 minutes in net.

What's Next?
Illinois Wesleyan hosts Elmhurst College on Saturday, April 13, at 1 p.m., and it is designated as "Seniors' Day" for the men's lacrosse team.
