BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- On Seniors' Day for the Illinois Wesleyan men's lacrosse team, it was freshman
Rick Smith that scored seven goals and had five assists in leading the Titans to a 29-20 win over Elmhurst College on Saturday, April 13, at Tucci Stadium.
The Titans improved to 11-1 overall and 3-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the Bluejays are now 7-5 this season and 2-1 against CCIW opponents.
Illinois Wesleyan, who had a 72-47 lead in shots taken and a 50-33 advantage in shots on goal, built up a 17-8 halftime lead and led 25-13 after three quarters.In addition to the seven from Smith, Illinois Wesleyan got four goals from senior
Will Rossi, three from freshman
Charles Hildestad and two each from junior
Ty Collins, senior Mailey Marth and freshman
Daniel Dickerson. Collins and Rossi each provided three assists.
Elmhurst was led in scoring by Mac Harden, who had eight goals.
Illinois Wesleyan had a 50-34 lead in ground balls as senior J.C.Grabarek had 12 and
Max Bousky had 10. The Titans also won 38 of the 52 faceoffs in the contest and were successful on 16 of 21 clear attempts.
