Rossi Ties School Game Mark for Goals as Titan Men Drub Dubuque, 30-9

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Senior Will Rossi tied a school single-game record with eight goals as the Illinois Wesleyan men's lacrosse team took a 30-9 win over the University of Dubuque at Tucci Stadium on Wednesday, April 17.

The Titans are 12-1 overall and a perfect 4-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the Spartans are 5-9 overall and 1-3 in the CCIW.

Rossi's eight tallies tied the record also held by Alex Doorenbos (Whittier; April 13, 2018), Michael Julius (Olivet College; March 26, 2016) and Tim Smith (Hope, March 5, 2016).

Fourteen Titans scored goals in the game that saw IWU jump out to a 10-1 lead after the first quarter. Freshman Rick Smith had four, sophomore Nick Scott added three and two goals each came from freshman Scott Allgood, sophomore Brett Grabarek and senior J.C. Grabarek.

Tanner Weis scored four goals to lead Dubuque. 

Illinois Wesleyan had a 56-27 lead in ground balls, led by sophomore Max Bousky with 11 and freshman Zachary Taylor with eight.

Illinois Wesleyan had a 78-25 advantage in shots taken and had a 48-19 lead in shots on goal. The Titans were successful on 34 of 42 faceoffs and 15 of 16 clear attempts in the game. IWU admitted to 22 turnovers compared to 26 for the Spartans.

Junior Benigno Houser made six saves and freshman Thomas Laduzinsky made four as each played a half in the win.
