BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- With wins of 7-4 and 2-0 over North Central College, the Illinois Wesleyan softball team clinched at least a share of College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin softball title on Tuesday, April 23, at the IWU Softball Field.
The Titans are now 27-6 overall and 12-0 in the league, claiming a four-game lead over second place Carthage College (20-8 overall, 8-4 CCIW).

It is Illinois Wesleyan's 16th overall regular season softball championship and the fifth in the last six years with others coming in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2018.
In game one, junior starter
Brea Walker (11-3) allowed only two earned runs in 4 1/3 innings. Junior
Ally Wiegand got her third save of the year, striking out five in the final scoreless 2 2/3 innings.
The Titans' offense had 10 hits with senior centerfielder
Jillian Runyon, junior third baseman
Mia Massaro and junior leftfielder
Brittany Murphy each collecting two hits. Runyon and Massaro both had doubles and Murphy and freshman first baseman
Colleen Palczynski each had two RBI.
Murphy scored a run and had two of IWU's four hits in game two. Runyon crossed the plate on a groundout by Massaro in the first inning and Murphy came in on a third inning double by junior second baseman
Shelby Fulk.
Wiegand (16-2) had the complete game shutout win, allowing six hits with six strikeouts.

IWU hits the road for doubleheaders this weekend, playing at Carthage College at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, in Kenosha, Wis., and facing Carroll University at 12 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, in Waukesha, Wis. ...
