BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Junior
Ally Wiegand threw a one-hit shutout to get the No. 4-ranked Illinois Wesleyan softball team a 5-0 win over the University of Chicago and gain a split of the two games played in the IWU Tournament on Saturday, April 13. IWU now sports a 20-5 record this spring, the 26th straight year with at least 20 wins.
Earlier in the day, No. 22 Wisconsin-Eau Claire (15-4-1) dealt the Titans a 5-3 loss, their first home loss of the season, as Sarah Peka limited IWU to six hits. Junior second baseman
Shelby Fulk rapped a solo home run in the second inning and freshman catcher
Hayley Earl had a pair of singles and an RBI.

Brea Walker (9-2) took the loss, allowing four runs (three earned) on nine hits while striking out four.
Wiegand struck out 13 in the win over Chicago (9-12). She got offensive support from senior centerfielder
Jillian Runyon, who had a triple among her three hits with three runs batted in and two runs scored. Runyon now has 201 hits, three away from tying the school career record of 204 held by Ashley Deck (2005-08). Runyon is already the school's all-time leader in runs scored and stolen bases.
