IWU Women's Lacrosse Improves to 11-2 With Win at Carthage

KENOSHA, Wis. -- Sophomore Riley Rooney scored a team-high five goals as the Illinois Wesleyan women's lacrosse team earned a 16-5 win over Carthage College at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis., on Saturday, April 13.

The Titans improved to 11-2 overall and remained unblemished at 3-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the Lady Reds are 4-7 overall and 1-2 against CCIW foes.

In addition to Rooney's five tallies, senior Grainne Kelly scored three times and senior Sam Bidlack added four assists along with two goals. Senior Dani Engelbreit had seven of the Titans' 13 draw controls and IWU had a 24-21 lead in ground balls picked up.

Illinois Wesleyan, who scored eight goals in each half, had a 34-20 shots advantage and took 27 shots on goal compared to 16 for Carthage.

Illinois Wesleyan hosts the University of Chicago at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17 in CCIW action.
