AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- Illinois Wesleyan got a second straight solid pitching effort and improved to 7-3 this season by taking a 4-2 win over Wheaton College (Mass.) on Friday, March 15, at Lake Myrtle Field No. 6 in Auburndale, Fla., as part of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.
Sophomore
Quinn Gudaitis (1-0) went six innings, allowing two runs on five hits with four strikeouts, and junior
Rory Mulvihill and sophomore
Matt Blaney cleaned up the final three hitless innings with Blaney earning his first save.
The Titans got all the offense they would need with three runs in the bottom of the second. Sophomore catcher
Eric Kozlowski led off with a double to left field and scored when freshman centerfielder
Dom DiLello reached on an error by the shortstop.
Junior second baseman
Jeran Simpson singled and senior designated hitter
Joe Marras walked to load the bases. DiLello scored when freshman
Jack Schneider was hit by a pitch and Simpson scored on a sacrifice fly to leftfield by junior shortstop
Brandon Skopick.
