CLERMONT, Fla. -- The No. 2-ranked Illinois Wesleyan softball team won its first two games of the 2019 season, topping Catholic University 3-1 and downing Stockton in nine innings, 3-2, on Tuesday, March 12, at The Spring Games in Clermont, Fla.

Ally Wiegand struck out 13 and scattered four hits against Catholic (2-4). Junior leftfielder
Brittany Murphy had two of the Titans' eight hits and drove home a run while junior rightfielder
Courtney Barrett knocked home

Julie Josten with a sixth inning single.
Against Stockton (4-2), junior
Brea Walker allowed six hits and struck out 10 in the nine-inning complete game. The Titans rallied with a run in the bottom of the eighth on a single by Murphy to tie the game at 2-2 and scored the winning run with two outs in the ninth when senior
Jillian Runyon had a single to drive home Earl, who opened the inning on second base due to the international tie-break rule.
