MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- With five fourth-quarter goals, the Illinois Wesleyan men's lacrosse team broke open the game and claimed a 12-7 season-opening win over Rhodes College at Crain Field in Memphis, Tenn., on Sunday, Feb. 17.
Illinois Wesleyan had a total of 50 shots compared to 36 for the Lynx and IWU led in shots on goal, 29-19. Junior
Ty Collins led the Titans with four goals and two assists while senior
Bailey Marth and junior
Danny Lowe each scored two goals.
IWU dominated on faceoffs, getting 17 of 21 with
Max Bousky getting 11 and senior
J.C. Grabarek getting six. Sophomore goalkeeper
Will Harris made 12 saves in 60 minutes. The Titans also had 52 ground balls to 40 for Rhodes and each team was guilty of 33 turnovers.
Rhodes (1-1) got two goals each from Tyler Milwit, Karl Van Blargan and Matt Perez.
