BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team begins its bid for a repeat of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin title against North Central College, Wednesday, Nov. 6. The Titans come in as the No. 2 seed and the Cardinals are the No. 3 seed with the winner facing off against either No. 1 Wheaton College or No. 4 Augustana College, Saturday, Nov. 9.

The Titans, after winning only one of their first five matches, ended the season by winning 11 out of their last 12 games, including their last seven in-a-row. North Central ended their season with a 5-3 conference record in addition to its overall record of 9-8-1.

In the regular season matchup, played on Oct. 9, the Titans prevailed over the Cardinals in overtime 2-1, with senior Flower Edington (Wilmette, Ill.-New Trier Township HS) putting both goals in the back of the net.

Illinois Wesleyan has made the CCIW tournament every year since it was first played in 2002, advancing to the championship 12 times in program history. The Titans have won three conference tournament titles this decade, claiming victory in 2010, 2016, and 2018.

Sophomore Caelyn Steffens (Normal, Ill.-Normal Community) is on top of the CCIW leaderboard in points (28) and goals (11), and is five points ahead of the next player. Junior Cameron Hindel (Batavia, Ill.-Batavia HS) ranks second in the conference with four game-winning goals and tied for third with eight goals. Steffens also ended the regular season with a six-game point streak and Hindel currently has a four-game point streak.
