CCIW Tournament Central
NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team will partake in the annual College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin tournament as the No. 3 seed, traveling to No. 2 seeded North Central College, Wednesday, Nov. 6. The winner will advance to the CCIW Championship against either No. 1 North Park University or No. 4 Elmhurst College, Saturday, Nov. 9.
The Titans finished the regular season with a five-game unbeaten streak to finish at a 9-7-1 overall record, in addition to their CCIW record of 5-2-1. North Central ended up with a 6-2 CCIW mark to go with their 11-5-2 overall record. The first match between the two opponents, played on Oct. 9, saw the Titans earn a 1-nil overtime victory as senior Doug Ballard (Solana Beach, Calif.-Canyon Crest Academy) scored the golden goal to lead IWU to victory.
This will be the seventh time that Illinois Wesleyan has qualified for the four-team tournament, and the first time since 2017. A win in this match will advance them to the CCIW final for the first time in program history.
Among all CCIW players, senior Patrick Hickey (Des Plaines, Ill.-St. Viator HS) ranks second in game-winning goals (5), tied for fourth in goals (9), and fifth in points (21).
