Men's Soccer Battles to Scoreless Draw with Elmhurst

The Titans will be the No. 3 seed in next week's CCIW Tournament

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -
The Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team finished the regular season with a scoreless draw against Elmhurst College Saturday afternoon, Nov. 2, at Neis Field. The College Conference of Illinois and Wesleyan clash marked the final home game for the Titans 12-man senior class.

With the draw, Illinois Wesleyan's record now sits at 9-7-1 overall and 5-2-1 in CCIW games. Elmhurst is now 9-8-2 overall. The Titans, who secured a spot in the conference tournament earlier this week, will be the No. 3 seed, while Elmhurst locked up the No. 4 seed with the result.

The Titans held a 21-5 advantage in shots, including a 5-4 edge in shots on goal. IWU manufactured nine corners to Elmhurst's two, and committed 26 fouls to EC's 15. Senior Alex Ruckstaetter (Glen Ellyn, Ill.-Glenbard West HS) made four saves.

Prior to the match, Illinois Wesleyan honored seniors Logan Alexander (Geneseo, Ill.-Geneseo HS), Doug Ballard (Solana Beach, Calif.-Canyon Crest Academy), Spencer Bard (Appleton, Wis.-Appleton West HS), Luke Cangilla (Broomfield, Colo.-Broomfield HS), Jack Dilger (Homer Glen, Ill.-Lockport Township HS), Josh Essary (League City, Texas-Clear Springs HS), Patrick Hickey (Des Plaines, Ill.-St. Viator HS), Michael Juarez (Bloomington, Ill.-University HS), Orion Marty (Addison, Texas-Greenhill School), Alex Ruckstaetter (Glen Ellyn, Ill.-Glenbard West HS), Konrad Wasilewski (Algonquin, Ill.-Harry D. Jacobs HS), and Justin Yaeger (New Lenox, Ill.-Lincoln-Way West HS).

IWU opens up CCIW Tournament play with a semifinals match at North Central College Wednesday night, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m.
