Women’s Soccer Treks to No. 8/9 Wheaton for CCIW Tournament Final Rematch

Titans currently have a four-game winning streak

WHEATON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team begin their CCIW schedule at No. 8/9 ranked Wheaton College, Friday, Oct. 4. This is the first match-up between the two conference foes since last year's dramatic CCIW Tournament final, where IWU won the penalty shootout 5-4 after taking Wheaton to a 1-1 draw through two overtime periods.

The Titans have a 5-4-0 record going into CCIW play, and have won their last four games while shutting out their last two opponents. Wheaton, ranked number 8 by D3soccer.com and number 9 in the United Soccer Coaches ranking, presently has a 9-1-1 record. Over the last week, their last two games were wins at Elmhurst (4-0, Sept. 28) and Hope College (3-2, Oct. 1). IWU has a 4-30-5 overall record all-time against the Thunder.

The Titans hold a marginal advantage in corner kicks, with 60 on the season coming into the match compared to holding their opponents to 33. The duo of junior Cameron Hindel (Batavia, Ill.-Batavia HS) and sophomore Caelyn Steffens (Normal, Ill.-Normal Community) share the team lead with four goals and two assists each. Sophomore Erin Peck (Wheaton, Ill.-Wheaton St. Francis HS) is also tied with two assists of her own for the season.

This match is scheduled for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff time at Joe Bean Stadium. Links for live stream and live stats can be found here.
