WAUKESHA, Wis. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team took a decisive 4-1 decision over Carroll University after trailing 1-nil at the end of the first half, Saturday, Oct. 26. The road victory improved IWU's record to 10-5-0 with a CCIW record of 5-1. This was also the Titans' fifth straight victory and ninth out of the last 10 matches.
Freshman Lauren Shanks (Bloomington, Ill.-Central Catholic) found the back of the net for the third straight game from fellow sophomore
Erin Peck's (Wheaton, Ill.-Wheaton St. Francis HS) pass to tie the match in the 50th minute. This is also the fifth consecutive game in which Shanks has either assisted or scored a goal.
In the 68th minute, sophomore Heather Dietrich (Geneseo, Ill.-Geneseo HS) gave the Titans the lead with a goal that was assisted by junior
Cameron Hindel (Batavia, Ill.-Batavia HS). The point to Hindel gave her 60 for her IWU career. Peck then added to her assist by scoring a goal of her own in the 83rd minute, with junior
Megan O'Neal (St. Charles, Ill.-St. Charles East HS) assisting. O'Neal scored the final goal of the match from a feed by senior
Flower Edington (Wilmette, Ill.-New Trier Township HS) in the 86th minute to seal the victory for IWU.Â
Sophomore Caelyn Steffens (Normal, Ill.-Normal Community) led all Titans with seven shots. O'Neal and Edington also had four shots each. Sophomore
Maria Fields (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East HS) held Carroll scoreless in relief while saving four shots.
The Titans outshot the Pioneers 27 to 11 while also holding the advantage in drawing corners, 4 to 2.
Illinois Wesleyan will travel to Decatur, Illinois for their next match to try for their six consecutive victory against CCIW opponent Millikin University, Wednesday, Oct. 30. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
