BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team seeks its fourth straight College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin victory when the Titans host Augustana College, Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Neis Field.
IWU holds an 8-5-0 overall record with a 3-1 record in CCIW play, which is second-best in the conference. Going into the match, the Titans have won seven out of the last eight matches overall, including the last three in which IWU has outscored its opponents 11-1.
Illinois Wesleyan leads the all-time series versus Augustana, 15-9-8. The most recent meeting between the two came in last year's CCIW semifinals, Oct. 31, 2018, with the Titans prevailing over the Vikings 2-1 on a game-winning goal by Ellie Crabtree (Springfield, Ill.-Edwardsville HS). Augie comes into the match with an 8-2-2 record with a 3-2 mark in CCIW play, winning its most recent match 1-nil against Millikin, Saturday, Oct. 19.
Sophomore Caelyn Steffens (Normal, Ill.-Normal Community) continues to lead all CCIW players with 19 points and eight goals scored. Freshman Lauren Shanks (Bloomington, Ill.-Central Catholic) has been a key contributor during IWU's current three-game winning streak, accounting for one goal and two assists during that time frame.
