BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- The Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team looks to wrap up College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin duals on a high note when it hosts Carthage College and Carroll University Saturday-Sunday, Oct. 12-13. IWU hosts Carthage Saturday, Oct. 12 at 10 a.m at Evergreen Racquet Club due to cold weather and wind. A 10 a.m matchup with Carroll is to follow Sunday, Oct. 13 at Beadles-Morse Courts.
The Titans entered the weekend after a pair of home losses to Elmhurst and Wheaton, Oct. 4-5. IWU opened the home portion of its schedule with a heartbreaking 5-4 setback against Elmhurst, Oct. 4, before falling to Wheaton, 9-0, Oct. 5.
IWU was strong in doubles against EC, as the Titans picked up wins at No. 2 and 3. The tandem of
Alessia Girardin (Chicago, Ill.-Regina Dominican HS) and
Caitlyn Smith (St. Jacob, Ill.-Triad HS) defeated the Bluejays 8-1 at No. 2 doubles, and senior
Autumn See (Morris, Ill.-Morris HS) and freshman
Andrea Zulawski (Elmhurst, Ill.-Willowbrook HS) won 8-7 via tiebreaker at No. 3.
Illinois Wesleyan is in search of its first win against Carthage in more than 10 years. Meanwhile, the Titans tallied a 5-4 victory against the Pioneers just last season. In that match,
Ashley Mohr (Morton, Ill.-Morton HS) chipped a 6-0, 7-6 win against Carroll's Allison Krusa.
