WAUKESHA, Wis. -- Junior quarterback
Brandon Bauer threw for one touchdown and ran for two more as the Illinois Wesleyan football team won its third straight College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin game with a 28-13 victory at Carroll University at Schneider Stadium in Waukesha, Wis., on Saturday, Sept. 29.
The Titans are 3-1 overall and 3-0 in the CCIW and the Pioneers are now 2-2 overall and 1-2 in league play. Illinois Wesleyan rolled up 428 yards of total offense with 282 coming in the air and 146 via the rush while limiting Carroll to 287 total yards (147 passing, 140 rushing). IWU claimed 20 first downs to 18 for Carroll and the Titans held a slight edge in possession time with 31:52 to 28:08.
Bauer completed 23 of 34 passes for 282 yards with a 6-yard touchdown pass to
Bryce Dooley. Bauer ran for 33 total yards on 10 carries with TD runs of 3 yards in the second quarter and 4 yards with 14:55 to play in the game that put the Titans ahead 28-7.
Senior
Morgan Alexander rushed for 107 yards on 23 carries and had a 5-yard touchdown run in the third quarter that staked IWU to a 21-7 lead.
Junior
Jack Healy made seven catches for 161 yards, including a long reception of 51 yards. Junior
Zach Walsh made five grabs for 40 yards and Dooley had six receptions for 33 yards.
Defensively, the Titans were led by the 12 tackles (nine solo, three assists) and an interception from junior defensive back
Trevor Koepke while senior defensive back
Quintin Walters had six total tackles with four solo including a quarterback sack. Junior linebacker
Jake Kapp, senior defensive back
Trevor Staley and junior linebacker
Ryan Swift each contributed five total tackles.
What's Next?
Illinois Wesleyan hosts Carthage College in the annual Homecoming game at 1 p.m. next Saturday, Oct. 6 ... The Red Men (2-2, 2-1 CCIW) were 63-7 winners over Elmhurst on Sept. 29 ... The University will recognize the CCIW championship teams of 1977, 1992, and 2007 during the weekend and at halftime of the football game.
