BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The No. 6-ranked Illinois Wesleyan softball team fell to Buena Vista University by a final score of 1-0 on Saturday, April 7. Sophomore
Ally Wiegand (6-2) kept Illinois Wesleyan in the game throughout the contest pitching six innings of one-hit softball and striking out 10 Buena Vista batters.
With a loss the Titans fall to 14-5 on the season, dropping 2-of-3 games in their season series with the Beavers. Buena Vista improved to 13-6 with a win over the Titans on Saturday.
IWU out-hit the Beavers 7-4 and finished with two batters left on base in the third, fourth, and sixth innings. Senior

Sam Berghoff each finished with two hit performances. Berghoff provided the Titans lone extra-base hit of the contest with a double in the first inning.
Buena Vista scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning on an infield single.
For Buena Vista, Moriah Guyett and Marissa Promes (6-1) combined to strike out seven Titan batters. Promes earned the victory for the Beavers after she threw three innings of relief where she allowed three hits and struck out three.

Illinois Wesleyan's second game of day one against DePauw has been rescheduled for May in Greencastle, Ind. ... The Titans will take on Wittenberg at 1 p.m. and Anderson at 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 8 ...
