Men's Lacrosse Extends Winning Streak to Six with 26-15 Win Over Benedictine

LISLE, Ill. -- The Illinois Wesleyan men's lacrosse team recorded their sixth consecutive victory on Saturday, April 21, defeating Benedictine University by a final score of 26-15. Freshman goalkeeper McGuire Mynatt broke the Illinois Wesleyan single-game saves record with 22 as he earned the victory in goal for IWU. Mynatt broke the previous record of 17 set by 2017 graduate Steven Laduzinsky on six different occasions.

With a win the Titans improved to 12-3 overall while Benedictine fell to 9-6 on the season.

  • Sophomore Alex Doorenbos and junior Bailey Marth each scored twice in the first quarter to give the Titans an early 4-1 lead.
  • The second quarter featured goals aplenty as the two sides combined to score 14 times.
  • IWU opened the second quarter on a 5-0 run, but Benedictine responded with a 5-1 run of their own to cut the Titan lead to 12-6.
  • With sophomore Joe Hynes on the sidelines in the second, sophomore Peter Trunk scored the teams third man-down goal of the season.
  • Benedictine opened the third quarter on a 4-1 run, cutting Illinois Wesleyan's lead to 16-10.
  • The lead was quickly extended back to 20-10 following a pair of goals from Doorenbos, and one from each of Trunk and senior James Maibuecher.
  • With Illinois Wesleyan leading 24-14, freshman Jory Vance scored the first goal of his collegiate career in the fourth quarter.

  • The Titans won 26-of-43 face-off's and junior J.C. Grabarek finished 13-of-19 to lead the team.
