Illinois Wesleyan Softball Offense Too Much for North Park in Two Wins

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The No. 16-ranked Illinois Wesleyan softball team improved to 18-7 overall and a perfect 8-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin with two "run-rule" wins over North Park on Sunday, April 15 at IWU Softball Field.

The Titans took game one by a 9-0 score and won the second game, 15-4. The Vikings fell to 11-20 overall and 3-6 in the CCIW.

Sophomore Brea Walker (5-3) allowed two singles and struck out seven in going the distance in the circle. She got immediate first inning support when senior Maggie Graham belted a grand slam home run to stake IWU to a 4-0 lead.
The Titans added four more runs in the third inning as senior catcher Amanda Lack knocked home a pair of runs with a bases-loaded single and Mia Massaro and Brittany Murphy also added runs batted in.

Game two saw the Titans bang out 15 hits with 10 of those coming in a 10-run third inning. Junior centerfielder Jillian Runyon had three hits, including a two-run home run, while sophomore shortstop Sam Berghoff had a solo homer and sophomore Sydney Alery smacked a three-run home run as she and Massaro each had two hits in the third inning.

Freshman Meghan Bowler (1-0) had a no-hitter for 3 2/3 innings and finished with seven strikeouts in the five-inning victory.
