AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- Senior third baseman Gino Cavalieri hit a single to drive home sophomore shortstop Brandon Skopick in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Illinois Wesleyan baseball team a 4-3 win at Lake Myrtle Field #2 in Auburndale, Fla., on Friday, March 9.

The Titans improved to 4-0 with their second straight extra-inning win to start their spring break trip to Florida and the Lynx record is now 11-8.

With one out in the 10th, Skopick, who finished with three of IWU's 10 hits, singled up the middle and advanced to second on a wild pitch. After John Bosco was intentionally walked, Cavalieri delivered his singled through the left side of the infield.

Senior designated hitter Mike Plecki knocked home two first inning runs with a double to right center and the Titans tacked on a third run in the fourth when rightfielder Ben Manski's double drove home Plecki, who had singled to lead off the inning.

Freshman Brady Hough worked the final 3 2/3 scoreless innings, striking out three and allowing three hits, to pick up his first win of the season. Starter Nick Brune pitched six innings of one-hit ball and struck out six while walking two.
