AUBURNDALE, Fla. – A three-run rally in the ninth inning fell short as the Illinois Wesleyan baseball team lost for the first time of the season, a 6-4 setback to Loras College in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational on Saturday, March 10.
The Titans are 4-1 while Loras improved to 7-1.
Senior third baseman
Gino Cavalieri cracked a solo home run in the seventh and junior
John Bosco hit a bases-loaded double for three ninth inning RBI to get IWU to within two runs at 6-4. But Bosco was stranded at second to end the game.
Freshman starter
Eric Bennes (1-1) allowed three runs in six innings for the Titans while Nick Spiess (2-0) was the winning pitcher for the Duhawks.
