BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Led by five goals each from freshman midfielder
Riley Rooney and junior midfielder
Grainne Kelly, the Illinois Wesleyan women's lacrosse team eased past Monmouth by a 21-3 score at IWU's Tucci Stadium on Wednesday, Feb. 28.
The Titans are 2-0 this season and Monmouth is 1-1.
Freshman
Maggie Torres, senior
Abby Kushina, and juniors
Dani Engelbreit and
Claudia Richman all scored a pair of goals apiece.
Junior
Sam Bidlack, who provided a team-high five assists, and senior
Heather Grimmer each had one goal as the Titans outshot the Fighting Scots 39-8. Torres and Engelbreit each had two assists.
Illinois Wesleyan had 22 shots on goal in the first half en route to a 14-2 halftime advantage.
Senior
Claire Quist, who made one save in 19 minutes in getting the win as starting goalkeeper, also scored a late goal as an attacker to check a mark off
her bucket list. Freshman
Janaye Godfrey also had one save in nearly 41 minutes in goal.
Kara-Jade Gordon scored two goals for the Fighting Scots and Lexi Tibbs added one.

Illinois Wesleyan has a busy weekend as the Titans host Colorado College at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 2 and plays Rhodes College at 10 a.m. on Sunday, March 4.
