Illinois Wesleyan Men's Basketball Tops Webster for Weekend Sweep in St. Louis

WEBSTER GROVES, Mo. – Four players scored in double figures as the Illinois Wesleyan men's basketball team improved to 6-0 with a 77-62 win over Webster University on Saturday, Nov. 24, in Webster Groves, Mo.
 
The Titans are 6-0 for the first time since the 2010-11 season and it has been since the 2005-06 team opened 10-0 that IWU has started out with more than six straight wins.
 
Senior Jason Gregorie scored 13 points to pace IWU while sophomore Charlie Bair added 12, senior Colin Bonnett had 11 and sophomore Grant Wolfe scored 10.

Brady Rose, who scored eight points in the game, was chosen as the Most Valuable Player and was joined by Gregoire on the all-tournament team from the Webster Classic. Others were Romo Tabb of Westminster, Kelvin Knight of University of the Ozarks, and Enrique Tankins and Josh Johnson of Webster.
 
IWU and the Gorloks were tied at 9-9 with 15:30 before halftime before the Titans surged to a 12-2 run and took a 21-11 lead. IWU led by nine at 39-30 at the half and expanded their margin to as many as 22 at 73-51 with 4:08 to play in the game.
 
The Titans, who led for 36:04 in the 40 minute game, had a 36-29 rebounding advantage in the game, led by freshman Matthew Leritz with seven boards.
 
Johnson scored 17 points as Webster slipped to 4-2 this season.
 
What's Next?
Illinois Wesleyan opens College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play next Saturday, Dec. 1, with a 7 p.m. game against the Carthage Red Men.
